Melinda Karen Creech, Tina Faye Kemp, Khymbrly Scruggs & Other Suggestions

Some common suggestions for our little Walker County Jane Doe are Melinda Karen Creech, Tina Faye Kemp, Khymbrly Scruggs, Teresa Marie Byers, Diane Genice Dye, Angela Mae Meeker, Laureen Rahn, Kristy Booth, Lisa Jane Borden, and Deborah McCall, none of which are her.

NOTE: WCJD has both mtDNA and nDNA available. If a missing person has DNA available, it automatically rules them out as being her.

Melinda Karen Creech: Her DNA and dentals are available.

Tina Faye Kemp: Her DNA is available. Her dentals are unavailable, but it is known she never visited a dentist. WCJD had dental work performed.

Khymbrly Scruggs: Her DNA is available.

Teresa Marie Byers: Her DNA is available.

Diane Genice Dye: Her DNA and dentals are available.

Angela Mae Meeker: She was ruled out. On what basis, is unknown.

Laureen Rahn: Her DNA and dentals are available.

Kristy Booth: Her DNA and dentals are available. She is also on the rule-out list.

Lisa Borden: Her DNA is available.

Deborah McCall: Her DNA and dentals are available.

New Recons

Recently, NCMEC (National Center for Missing and Exploited Children) has released a new reconstruction of Walker County Jane Doe.

Picture
In many people's opinions (including mine), this reconstruction is significantly better than the original by NCMEC. I
believe it to better depict her youthful and delicate features than the original, in which she looked older, with a larger nose, and a different hairstyle.

However, talented forensic artist Carl Koppelman has offered up an alternative version. He combined his reconstruction of WCJD with this recent NCMEC rendering to a great result.

To see his reconstruction, go under the "Contact" section of this website. Pictured below is the great combination.

35 Years

Thirty five years ago to this day, a horrible tragedy occurred. A beautiful young girl had her life stolen from her after being tortured and assaulted by a monster.

She was left deceased without so much as her name. Her headstone simply reads "Unidentified White Female." All we know about her is what she looked like after her death. Artistic renditions created from her battered face depict what she may have looked like in life. A gorgeous teenaged girl, with feminine features--a tiny chin, delicate face,  hazel eyes, and full lips. Surely no one has forgotten her--they just do not know of the horrors she suffered.

Whoever did this needs to confess. What was her name? What were her last words? Did you know what it was like when she laughed?

We can all hope that this is the last year she has to remain unidentified. The last year that her family is confused and without answers about why she never came home. For families of victims, closure is nonexistent, a concept hard to grasp for most. However, we can only hope that her family will be able to properly mourn her, and that we can all know about the legacy she left behind.

Bring Ruthie Doe/Walker County Jane Doe home, before the 36th anniversary.

Fly high, sweet angel. You are not forgotten.

I Call Her Ruthie

10/30/2015

I call her Ruthie. Autopsy reports and online persons call her 1980 Walker County Jane Doe.

We don't know her real name. Somebody, somewhere does, but they don't know what happened to her. They don't know that her body was discovered, face-down and horribly tortured, on November 1, 1980. They don't know. They might think she left her family and started a happy life for herself. She has no family that knows to mourn her, and that is so tragic.

In two days, it'll be thirty five years. Thirty five years since she perished, since she lost her life much too young.

It breaks my heart that she has been buried underneath a simple grave reading "Unknown White Female." I long for the day that her grave can read her full name.

Until then, until that day when she gets her name back, she will be Ruthie Doe to me.

At first, I started calling her that because she simply looked like a Ruthie to me, and I felt as if she needed a name. I then remembered that Ruthie is a Biblical name. It also means "friend" or "companion". I feel assured that she has friends from her life, that she was somebody's companion, and that they never forgot her. I imagine it being a case like Tammy Jo Alexander's, when a report was filed by family, but not taken seriously by agencies because she was a young runaway.

I know that she was never forgotten, even if by people who never knew her. All this time, people have been remembering her, constantly searching for her identity. And, one day, I pray for two things: her name and that of her killer. She needs to be brought home to her family, and her killer needs to never see daylight again.

Until that day, she is just known as the "Unknown White Female" who died on November 1, 1980.

May she rest in peace.

Pictured here is her grave. It reads "Unknown White Female: Died November 1, 1980."
It saddens me so much that her grave has no name. All they know about her is that she was Caucasian. I truly hope that, before the upcoming 35th anniversary of her murder, her name is brought back to her.

Her dentals are available in NamUs for comparison with missing peoples'. Below are the specifics:

Her teeth were noted to be straight and in good condition. She had fillings in three out of four of her first-molars (#3, #19 and #30). The rest of her teeth were in their natural condition.
