On October 31, 1980, at around 6:30 pm, manager of the now-defunct South End Gulf Station gas station had spoken with a girl he positively identified as Walker County Jane Doe. He claimed she had entered the gas station and had appeared to be somewhat disheveled, traveling and possibly sleeping in her clothes. He claimed she emerged from a blue 1973/74 Chevrolet (maybe a Caprice) with a lighter-colored top, that was being driven by a white male. She was wearing a yellow sweater with large pockets hanging below her waist, and blue jeans, as well as carrying a pair of high-heeled sandals with leather straps in her hands.

She asked the manager directions to get to the Ellis Prison Unit, which was, at the time, a high-security prison for death row inmates. Once she got the directions, she departed from the station by foot, walking north on Sam Houston avenue.

At an unspecified time on the 31st, a waitress at the Hitch 'n' Post Truck Stop on Interstate 45 also spoke with our Jane Doe. She claimed the girl had asked for directions to, again, the Ellis Prison Unit. Jane Doe claimed to have a friend incarcerated there. The waitress suspected her to be a runaway and asked how old she was. She responded "19." The waitress did not believe her, thinking she looked younger, and asked if her parents knew where she was. She responded "Who cares?" The waitress then asked where she came from. The girl responded that she came from the Aransas Pass/Rockport area, by Corpus Christi. The waitress drew a map for the victim, who then departed from the truck stop. It is unknown whether she left by vehicle or foot.

Witness sightings of the victim interacting with the male with whom she hitched a ride are not existent.

Please note: Her mitochondrial DNA, dentals, and fingerprints are all in CODIS.  If a MP has any 3 of those in CODIS, then they are not a match.
